I was born in Hoi An, and I have never really left. I have watched this town change for as long as I can remember — the lanes I cycled through as a boy are busier now, the river has new bridges, the old houses have new signs above their doors. I love it anyway. Maybe more than before.

My life happens here every day, not only on tour days. The market where I buy breakfast, the family who has been making my favourite cao lau for years, the back roads that flood every October and dry out by December. That is the Hoi An I want to hand to you — the food, the culture, the customs and the small daily habits, shared plainly and honestly, the way I would show a friend. Nothing staged. That is what makes it feel real.

I started guiding properly in 2019. Since then I have spent every season of the year on these roads, in every kind of weather, with every kind of traveller — families with tired children, couples on their honeymoon, photographers who want to be out before sunrise.
